Considered as the “lean season” for Balloons & Party Supplies, the months of February, March and April is a challenge to many who are in the industry. Comparable to most businesses, which also has their highs and lows when it comes to sales, the Balloon Decoration Industry usually experience a slowdown in client bookings during these months. It is during these months that parents tend to save for the upcoming summer vacation for their family outing or they spend it for the final tuition fee for the school year. The only good days throughout this lean season are during Valentines’ Day & Easter Sunday. On weekends, bookings are accustomed because most parents move their child’s kiddie party to Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to make sure the guests will be able to attend the party.

For us, the good thing to do during the lean season for Balloon Decorations and Party Supplies is to continue promoting the business through mediums other than FB. Advertising includes other social media promotion, give flyers to random people, pay for radio and newspaper ads, and write blogs.

At Cebu Balloons, bookings on weekdays are still normal and weekends are still extremely busy. We no longer pay for advertisement because our customers are now our biggest asset when it comes to advertising the business. We continue to update our Facebook Page and the time and effort we put on updating our website and other social media accounts have lowered down, which is obviously a good thing because we can spend more time doing other things such as make proposals for clients, innovate new designs & answer to inquiries.

There is a lean season for most businesses but if you continue to find ways to stay in shape, you will persist to prosper for a long time. For example, we continue to promote our “Graduation Designs” because this is also the time for culminating activities and commencement exercises. We also search for upcoming businesses or stores and sell our basic balloon pillars and arch to them. Product launching are also regular during this season and balloons will surely make the product launching more festive and eye-catching.

There are many ways to maintain the composure of the business during this unprofitable months. You can also minimize the operating costs, such as turning off the fan when not in used, and you can also give mouth-watering but reasonable discounts to your clients to make sure they avail your products and services.
